Mom Vs. Vicious Dogs

My mom is fighting corrupt legislation involving vicious dogs in  Godfrey, Illinois. She is running for coroner, which could potentially grant her some real power to amend some of these crooked laws. This was all sparked when my sister, Mallorie, was mauled by a pit bull in May. You can read the story here. My mom is an amazing woman. She inspired me to draw this. And yes, you bet I sent it to her!

End Class Paintings

These are the rest of the landscape paintings I did for my class with the Concept Design Academy. I definitely improved a lot over the 10 weeks. I built confidence in what used to be my most dreaded area of art—painting/environments.

First Comic Strip!

I made a comic strip from start to finish! This is Standard newspaper comic strip ratio 14 x 4.5 inches. These characters belong to my latest story in development called the "Occupational Dreamer".

Their names are Dumkin the Ewok, Celia the music box dancer, and Ethan Rodinski, a cartoonist, aka the occupational dreamer. Dumkin and Celia are two of Ethan's cartoon's come to life!  This was a character study more than anything. I wanted to see how they might interact. Dumkin is excitable, Celia won't date Ethan because she is his imaginary character. Ethan is overly dramatic.  I actually  just recently learned how to draw females thanks to Preston Blair's animation book. More on the way!
